AVIDGOLFER Magazine’s Annual “Best of” Issue also picks The Lakes for Best GPS, Best Practice Facilities, Best Catered Food and Best All-inclusive Breakfast Buffet
November 18, 2011 (Lewisville, Texas) - The newly renovated Lakes at Castle Hills golf course and club was recognized in five categories for outstanding performance among DFW golf facilities in AVIDGOLFER Magazine’s annual North Texas survey.
Among the five commendations, most notable is the Best Renovations nod which recognizes the extensive course improvements completed at The Lakes at Castle Hills over the summer months. The improvements—which include newly planted greens of MiniVerde Ultra Dwarf Bermuda Grass and new bunkers filled with Premier White Crushed Quartz Bunker Sand—are providing tour-like conditions for members and daily fee players. The 7,152 yard, par 72 Jay Morrish-designed championship course was reopened in late September to top customer feedback and media reviews.
The Lakes at Castle Hills was also recognized as having the Best Practice Facilities which now feature the Hank Haney Golf Academy and the world headquarters for the Hank Haney Golf Schools. As part of the club’s summer transformation, a new partnership was formed with Haney to offer world-class coaching and instruction at The Lakes outstanding Academy, a facility which was also improved over the summer months to include premier coaching staff and state-of-the-art technology. The Hank Haney Golf Academy at The Lakes at Castle Hills includes a 3-hole practice course, 12,000 sq. ft. putting green and 510-yard driving range.
The Lakes at Castle Hills was cited for its outstanding food offerings with recognitions for Best Catered Food and Best All-inclusive Breakfast Buffet. Food and beverage operations feature the creations of new Executive Chef Calbert McDonald. The club was also recognized for Best GPS system which is available on all golf carts and features an interactive program to enhance the golfing experience.
